João Carvalho, CEO at Deep Focus, leads an AI-powered consultancy startup focused on sustainable deep-sea exploration for critical metals. He previously managed R&D projects and developed solutions based on space assets and AI at ISQ between 2017 and 2022. His background includes work as a research fellow at the Faculty of Sciences, University of Lisbon, specializing in mineral exploration, economic potential assessment, geochemistry, and metallogenesis of ore deposits, with a particular focus on VHMS deposits and associated by-products (Au, Ag, In, Se).
